SlotsMillion was recognized for its pioneering work in virtual reality online gaming at the eGaming Review’s Operator, Marketing and Innovation Awards today. The operator, which has created the world’s first real-money virtual reality online casino, picked up the Innovation of the Year Award at the Pavilion at the Tower of London earlier today.

Developed between 2015 and 2016, SlotsMillion VR is a fully functional and regulated Oculus-ready virtual reality casino. Visitors to this cyberpunk-style casino lobby on the 80th floor of a skyscraper can prop up the bar, choose to play any number of immersive VR slots games, interact with other players, and experience very real vertigo when they lean against the windows and look down.

SlotsMillion was lauded by the judges not just for its work in creating a first-of-its-kind consumer VR experience but also for its exploration of how virtual reality can transform the backend of an online casino, affecting the interactions of customer service agents and affiliate managers, for example, with the casino and its customers.

SlotsMillion also became the first operator to sit down with regulators to discuss compliance measures and customer protections for the new medium.

“It means a huge amount to us to receive this accolade from our peers in the industry,” said Alexandre Tomic, co-founder of Slots Million. “While many operators are taking a wait-and-see approach to virtual reality, we decided to throw caution to the wind and just jump in, because we wanted to imagine the future of the online casino industry.

“It’s been an amazing journey and we’ve learnt so much about the potential of this new medium along the way; not just the cool, interactive adult playground we can create, but also how virtual reality can transform the backend and change the way we do business.

“We’ve taken our VR casino on the road with us to trade shows and the feedback we’ve had from people has been amazing, but to receive that recognition from the industry as well – I’m truly lost for words.”
